Some news on neutrinos

September 23, 2011

It’s looking like a fun time to be a nuclear physicist. Cern, the lab that is the center of the European Organization for Nuclear Research, might have just discovered proof that sub-atomic neutrinos can travel faster than the speed of light.

There’s quite a bit of work to be done to determine whether this is a revolutionary discovery or just a mistake. But if true, it means that faster-than-light travel for humans just became a little less hypothetical and a little more theoretical.

And if you’re reading this blog of mine, you probably have little problem imagining the possibilties.
